World's Best Vanilla Cupcakes

Makes 2 dozen regular cupcakes


~ 1 cup + 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

~ 2 teaspoon vanilla extract

~ 4 tablespoons of butter

~ 1 1/3 cups of AP flour

~ 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

~ 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

~ 1/2 teaspoon salt

~ 2 eggs

~ 1/4 cup vegetable oil

~ 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

~ 1/2 cup sour cream

~ 2/3 cup buttermilk

Vanilla Buttercream (or frosting of your choice)


1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line cupcake tin with liners.

2. Combine your sugar and vanilla. Cream in butter.

3. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt to sugar mixture. Combine until a sandy texture is reached. Set aside.

4. In separate bowl whip together your eggs, oil, sour cream and vanilla.

5. Alternate adding dry mixture and milk to the wet mixture. Always begin and end with the dry mix.

6. Fill each cupcake liner 2/3 full of batter.

7. Bake for 13-15 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

8. Quickly transfer to a rack to cool. As soon as they are fully cooled you may decorate and enjoy!
